Cloud Shaped Room by Matt Anserello / $5 (plus shipping)
Allow 10-14 days for shipping.
Cloud Shaped Room was selected by Guest Judge Isaac Pressnell (Keyser, WV) as the winning manuscript for West Virginia in the Open Thread 2009 Tri-State Chapbook Contest. It was then designed and produced at Encyclopedia Destructica Studios in Pittsburgh, PA.
Of the chapbook, Pressnell says:
In these poems, Matt Anserello investigates the fabric of the Midwest, consumerism, and performance...At the heart of these poems is an intellect's tenuous relationship with modernity: "Just lie back and think of America. / I'm nothing more than a background torn from its stage, a pale field / where my brother carries our dead dog under a sky of good-looking / clouds just staying put." This is a truly excellent collection of poems by a new and important voice.
Matt Anserello is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds an MFA from West Virginia University and lives in Morgantown with writer Emily C. Watson and two retired greyhounds. His poems have appeared in Bat City Review, Phoebe, Smartish Pace, and Versal, among others.

Life as a Crossword Puzzle by Noah Falck / $5 (plus shipping)
Allow 10-14 days for shipping.
Life as a Crossword Puzzle was selected by Guest Judge Tyler Meier (Columbus, OH) as the winning manuscript for Ohio in the Open Thread 2009 Tri-State Chapbook Contest.
Of the chapbook, Meier says:
The tonal textures-mini-tragedies, high comedy, irony in sequins, cheap jokes, silver-pure pathos, poems that feel like a clemency-mash up and make something that looks at once like a chimera, then a mirror. And perhaps that's why I'm drawn to this chapbook. Always accessible, Falck is making possible what normally isn't possible: fantasy moonlighting as realism, irony dressed up in the "I mean this with all my heart" sweatpants.
Noah Falck is the author of two previous chapbook collections, Measuring Tape for the Midwest (Pavement Saw, 2008) and Homemade Engines from a Dream (Pudding House, 2007). He teaches elementary school in the Northridge Local School District and lives in Dayton, OH.

Aleph in the Cellar by Colin C. Post / $5 (plus shipping)
Allow 10-14 days for shipping.
Aleph in the Cellar was selected by Guest Judge Claire Donato (Pittsburgh, PA) as the winning manuscript for Pennsylvania in the Open Thread 2009 Tri-State Chapbook Contest.
Of the chapbook, Donato says:
Colin C. Post roots through (&) sorts the contents of memory's limitless cabinets, propelling literal (&) symbolic expansion via syntactic compression of perceptions he senses along the way. In this Wunderkammer, "migratory birds / have feathers fit as / tight grooves on a Motown / 45 (&) I karyotyped my family / tree in the footnotes of history." A conceptually ambitious book, Aleph is completely alive, unhinged but not unbalanced in achieving harmonic equilibrium.
Colin C. Post was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI on a steady diet of Coca-Cola and identifying the model and make of Ford Mustangs. He currently lives in Pittsburgh, where he is studying poetry at the University of Pittsburgh.
